What is a birth doula?
A birth doula is a certified, non-clinical professional who is there during labor providing emotional and physical supports to the birth-giver via massage techniques, translating medical jargon into understandable language, and reminding of affirmations just to name a few ways. If there is a support person or partner, a doula will also help that person support the birth-giver in the most effective and helpful ways. The great thing about a doula is that they will support in the way you need it most, every birth-giver is different and therefore every birth-giver deserves different support methods.
